Sustaining Resilience for Leadership - The importance of our own wellbeing to lead inclusive schools

on . .

In recognition of the huge challenges presented by leading a school community through the Covid 19 crisis for Headteachers, System leaders and CEOs across the SW,Mindfullness regional system partners have been considering how best to provide an offer of support for our school leaders that can be accessed just prior to the summer break.

We are therefore delighted to inform you that Erica Wolstenholme from Whole School SEND will host this live Zoom event with Ian Hunkin, Director of the Sigma Teaching Alliance, along with Julia Steward author of 'Sustaining Resilience for Leadership' to provide an overview of the professional obligation leaders maintain for their own wellbeing in order to effectively lead inclusive schools. Through the session, Ian will present an overview of the evidence from the research on the impact of stress on wellbeing, while Julia will explore strategies for sustaining resilience for leadership, with a particular focus on how to maintain your own health and wellbeing, enabling leaders to reflect on how you work, rest and recharge.
This collaboration represents a great example of SW system partnership working in action, we are thankful in particular for WSS for hosting the event. We do hope that you can find an hour of your time to join this session, and encourage colleagues in your network to do the same.
